 Z39.50 search capability to simplify both lending and borrowing

Relais Enterprise and Relais ILL use Z39.50. Using control numbers such as ISSNs, ISBNs, title and author keywords the search automatically generates Z39.50 queries to the one or more catalogs that you have selected to search.  

For example for incoming lending requests Relais search automatically checks your own OPAC  to check whether you hold the item and if so where the item is in your collection. Requests from your own patrons can be checked in your own catalog and in a range of other catalogs and systems that you have selected. 

If staff needs to review the results of the search, an integrated search screen is provided showing both request information and search results all in one. 

When the Relais search finds a bibliographic match in a catalog then it retrieves item level information such as location, call number, holdings and availability and adds it to the request to assist in decision making and processing.
